Jessica Gonsiorowski

About Jessica Gonsiorowski

Born and raised in Germany by a German mom and American father, Jessica enjoyed a multicultural upbringing that has given her a curious, open mind and warm heart. Jessica took her first yoga class at 19 years old and discovered that letting go of thoughts and stressors, as well as finding inner strength through creating a strong body, made her feel better and reconnect with herself. Learning to live in the present moment has been the biggest gift she has received from her yoga practice.

As a teacher, Jessica focuses on the body-mind connection, healthy alignment, creating awareness of personal needs, and nourishing the relationship with oneself. She continues to be impressed by the parallels of life on and off the mat and hopes to communicate that within her classes. She strives for her students to have fun and find their personal practice and become their own agents of change.

Jessica completed her 200-hour certification through Bloom Yoga Studio, Chicago, and 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training at Prairie Yoga. Becoming a yoga teacher has filled her life to the fullest, and she is overjoyed about how much happiness it has created in her life.

Join us for an immersive eight-month book club series as we explore Embodying the Yoga Sutra: Support, Direction, Space by Ranju Roy and David Charlton. Together, we'll delve into the wisdom of the Yoga Sutra through focused readings and discussions, connecting ancient teachings to our modern lives.

April’s Topic: Negotiating Obstacles & The Nature of Things (Sections 6-7))

The series meets on the third Saturday of each month through August. Additional dates are May 17, Jun 21, Jul 19, and Aug 16.

Patanjali's yoga sutras are the key text of yoga. Yet, for many yoga practitioners, its more profound treasures remain unknown or mired in obscurity.

Applying the teachings of this book will enliven your yoga practice and deepen your understanding of your Self.

—GARY KRAFTSOW, author of Yoga for Wellness and Yoga for Transformation

Ranju Roy and David Charlton focus on 18 of the most essential sutras and show how each one illuminates the relationship between the body, the breath, and the mind in a practical, clear, and contemporary manner. The sutras are carefully deconstructed, put into context, and then developed into ideas for practice.

The authors examine the interplay of three key terms: support, direction, and space. They suggest that only by taking support on something can you establish a clear direction, and only then can a space open up to grow. This formula can be applied successfully to the body (in asana), the breath (in pranayama), and the mind (through meditation).

With illustrated asana sequences and suggested practices, Embodying the Yoga Sutra is both a practical and deeply philosophical book. Roy and Charlton give readers a whole new vocabulary with which to understand yoga as a living, vibrant, and dynamic tradition.

What to Expect

  • Interactive Sessions: Attend in person or join via Zoom for a shared space of learning and reflection.

  • Deep Exploration: Each month, we’ll focus on specific sections of the book, diving into topics such as practicing asana and pranayama, overcoming obstacles, and cultivating mindfulness.

  • Practical Application: Explore how to embody the principles of yoga both on and off the mat.

Private Thermography Appointments

Private Thermography Appointments

Yoga Among Friends (map)

Special Interest | Saturday, May 17
with Zorica Tomic, CCT of Perspective Thermography LLC

Appointments are available from 9am-2pm at Yoga Among Friends. For more information, including pricing and/or to secure an appointment, please contact us by clicking the button below.

* Additional date: April 1 from 9am-2pm also available.

Thermography, also known as Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI), is a medical imaging technique that uses a medical-grade camera to capture your body’s heat patterns. Abnormalities like inflammation or reduced blood flow can be reflected as temperature changes. While other diagnostic tools show the body’s structure or anatomy, DITI is unique in showing physiologic and metabolic processes. A board-certified MD specializing in Medical Thermography analyzes and interprets the images to identify vascular changes and thermal signs of dysfunction.

Appointments can be scheduled for:

  • Full body scan,

  • Half-body scan

  • Breast scan

  • Immune health scan

  • Women's health scan

  • Area of concern scans.

Every organ and body system has a unique heat pattern, like a “thermal print.” Due to its sensitivity, thermography can identify minor temperature variations in the early phase. These variations might indicate inflammation or a variation in blood flow often, even before we develop any symptoms or before it’s detectable by other conventional methods.

Heat patterns should stay constant throughout our lives and never change. Before the tumor grows, it usually establishes a network of blood vessels to feed it, and thermography can screen for these changes within 2 years of its onset. The earliest sign of a growing tumor is neovascularity, which can be seen with an infrared camera 6-8 years before any conventional methods.

  • The thermography study is performed by our friendly, knowledgeable technicians. A female technician will be provided for all female patients.

In order to obtain accurate images, there is a 15-minute acclimation period prior to the study being performed. This allows your skin to reach a normal temperature prior to the pictures being taken.

For both the acclimation period and imaging study you will be asked to disrobe the areas of your body that will be imaged. In most cases this means disrobing either completely or above the waist. We will supply disposable undergarments when appropriate.

The pictures that are taken during the thermography study does not look like a normal picture that you would take with a camera. Our top-of-the-line thermographic sensor gathers only infrared heat information. The images are interpreted by our certified thermographer under standard privacy and HIPAA regulations.

After the images are interpreted you will go over the results with one of our team members and receive a written report that will include the images, study results, and recommendations.

  • All women can benefit from this infrared screening procedure. It is especially useful for women between the ages of 30 to 50 whose denser tissue makes it more difficult for mammography to be effective. It is also beneficial for women of all ages who are unable to undergo routine mammography, such as women with breast implants, radical mastectomies, and other health issues. Full body thermal imaging can also provide a ‘clinical marker’ to a medical doctor showing specific areas which need further evaluation.

Besides being non-invasive and painless, thermography offers early detection of any physiological changes that are a part of breast pathology. Thermography will often show changes 5 to 10 years before a mammogram will spot anything. This often gives the client an opportunity and time to make changes in lifestyle and nutrition to improve breast and general health. Consider the fact that only 25% of all breast cancers are genetically related. That leaves 75% of breast cancer related to our environment.

Breast thermography scans completed yearly offers us insight on changes we may need to balance overall health. This includes hormonal, thyroid, and heart health. It is also a safe non-invasive means to monitor breast lumps, breast inflammation, breast pain, fibrocystic / dense breasts, and cystic breasts.

Zorica Tomic, CCT

Zorica found Perspective Thermography to make a meaningful impact on people’s health and wellness, focusing on breast health. With her unique blend of educational background and deep-rooted passion for integrative health and wellness, Zorica is committed to the natural prevention of breast cancer. As an ACCT-certified clinical thermographer, she advocates for promoting proactive health measures while embracing a belief in the power of preventative medicine.

Workshop | Thursday, May 29, 2025
6:30-8pm | $40, registration required

This workshop blends the therapeutic aspects of yoga therapy with signature elements—gentle yoga, aromatherapy, sound healing, and targeted self-massage techniques. It’s designed for those dealing with chronic pain, tension, or stress and incorporates evidence-based yoga therapy principles for nervous system regulation and pain relief.

💫 What makes it unique?

  • guided body-mapping practice to help participants understand where they hold tension and how to release it.

  • Therapeutic movement sequences tailored for different pain patterns (low back, neck, shoulders, etc.).

  • breath-based approach to pain relief using yoga therapy techniques.

  • Self-massage with therapy balls to target trigger points.

  • "reset & restore" session with deep relaxation techniques like Yoga Nidra and sound healing.

This workshop would feel deeply healing yet highly intentional, with a focus on empowering participants to use yoga therapy tools beyond the session.

Meet Kylie Grogan

She has a passion for helping everyone feel their best and teaching them how to reconnect with their mind & body. She has been practicing yoga since she was 15 years old and teaching for almost a decade. Once she was shown what real yoga is, she realized that the path to a tranquil mind and healthy body is living with love and compassion towards everyone, everything, and showing this same love to yourself.

Kylie is on a journey, she started by obtaining her bachelors degree in exercise and movement science. While she was earning her degree, she began her true path of yoga. She earned her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in the Iyengar lineage and became a reiki practitioner. This led her to crave more knowledge of yoga of the Krishnamacharya lineage. She has earned her 500 hour yoga teacher certification in the T. K. V. Desikachar lineage and is currently continuing her education to become a C-IAYT certified Yoga Therapist with the Surya Chandra Healing Yoga School. She is well aware of and will always be learning the therapeutic power of yoga. She is committed to continuing her personal self-study through this process, as we are constantly changing and growing.

Breath, movement, connection has led her to better understand herself and others. Kylie was searching for answers, because she felt disconnected from herself. She was diagnosed with severe fibromyalgia and had symptoms since she was just a child. She craved natural remedies which led her to carve the path of healing within herself. She was then able to share what she learned with the world. Showing those that feel like there is no hope, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. She developed her personal practice in a way that is grounding, nurturing, trusting, freeing, so that she can move with grace and without pain. This flooded into her teachings so that she can help the world think clearly, because she had to learn to do this herself. In a world that feels like everything is constantly bringing you down, Kylie’s practice helps others feel, actually feel, rather than stay in this societal feeling of numbness. Kylie’s practice is gentle and soothing, she moves through each pose with kindness so that one is free from pain. She guides you into a deeply relaxed state with her calming energy and voice so that one leaves feeling tranquil, like they had a warm nourishing hug. She teaches others how to find  alignment that fits ones body and has a deep understanding of how the body works. She helps others create balance by finding and correcting imbalance in the body.

Kylie believes that yoga is for everyone, and she is so grateful for her soul students that she has been able to help feel the best they have in a while and for the ones she has yet to help with these powerful holistic tools.

  • Promote deep relaxation—Yoga Nidra (guided meditation) shifts the brain into a state of deep rest, similar to the early stages of sleep.

  • Create mindful bedtime habits – Learn simple, effective nighttime rituals to unwind, reduce stress, and improve sleep hygiene.

By the end of this series, you'll have a toolkit of practices to help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up feeling truly refreshed.

Location

Our retreat center overlooks the terrain of this magical place as we enjoy the privacy of having the entire resort to ourselves.

The NY Post calls the region of Puglia magical, and Lonely Planet put it on its 2014 must-see places list. This area is full of historic and cultural sites. Beautiful beaches are easily accessible. Martina Franca, the closest town to the center, is old and charming, surrounded by stone walls with prominent Baroque gates leading to piazzas and narrow, winding streets. And the retreat center is known for its incredible farm-to-table dining, forested walking trails, and proximity to the Adriatic Sea.
